Webinar Objectives:
Health care and public health staff are on the frontline in advocating for COVID-19 vaccinations. They are working in an incredibly polarized environment in which vaccination disinformation is rapidly being disseminated through social media. This is an “infodemic” of misleading and blatantly false information
which is then quickly amplified through organized campaigns. Re-assuring patients and public service clients of the vaccines’ safety and efficacy involves listening to valid as well as invalid concerns. Patently false claims are designed
to undermine the public’s trust in the medical profession, public health services, epidemiological science, pharmaceutical design and distribution, and state and federal government. This presentation will outline common disinformation tactics and share tools and strategies that interdisciplinary professionals can employ to counter the widespread disinformation proliferating across the nation.
