Transportation and Parking:
From Denver International Airport (DEN) – The most convenient and least expensive travel option from the airport is to ride the RTD A Line train to Union Station in downtown Denver. The ride takes 37 minutes and costs $9. Bus, taxi, and rideshare services are also available. Plan on a minimum of 30 minutes (it could be significantly longer during rush hour) if driving or taking vehicle transportation.
Parking downtown can be expensive and limited. However, there are a variety of lots and garages near and on campus. The free MallRide runs up and down the 16th Street Mall and can take you across downtown. Denver is also very walkable, and rideshare/taxis are readily available.
The University of Colorado Denver Auraria Campus is located in downtown Denver. For those traveling from out of town, staying in a hotel downtown would likely be the most convenient. The University has negotiated rates with many hotels in the Denver area for people traveling on University business. The full list – including rates, amenities, and ways to reserve a room – can be found through the University of Colorado Preferred Hotel Program. Be sure to click on the “UCD/System” tab for hotels near the Auraria Campus. Of course, there are a variety of other hotel options in downtown Denver, and you may be able to find a rate cheaper than going through the University. Check all options!
