Smoking Rates Continue to Decline Over Last Decade

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that rates of smoking have decreased from 21 percent in 2005 to 15 percent in 2015. NPR highlights that much of this trend may be the result of the increased cost of tobacco through tobacco taxes.
